Christina here! 🙋‍♀️ Did I ever tell you about the time after I had my first baby? 🤱 I was back in my midwife's office for my 6 week check-up. And I was SO excited and impressed when she toootally checked me for a DR! (DR = diastasis recti, or separation of the abdominals)

But then... she poked up and down my belly and said I didn't have one. 👍 Ok that's great, right?! Only when I went home and checked myself it turns out I definitely DID have one! 😣

➡️ And the thing is, I'm so not alone with this story. The women who work with us learn to correctly check themselves for a DR (and you can today, too! 🙌), and we often hear 1 of 2 things from them:

1️⃣ "I can't believe nobody ever checked me for this!"

2️⃣ "I was checked for a DR and 'they' said I didn't have one, but now I see that I obviously do! How did they miss it?" 🤔.

👉 The truth is: your OB, midwife, or chiropractor are trained to do what they specialize in very well. But they most often are not trained to correctly check you for a DR. This is yet another example of the huge gap in care that happens to women after we become mamas.
